JASMIN Funding

JASMIN Phase 1 funding

JASMIN phase 1 resulted from e-Infrastructure capital investment by the UK Government Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) in autumn 2011. JASMIN funding for e-Infrastructure serving the atmospheric science and climate modelling communities was provided via the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and its National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS). At the same time, investment for the Earth observation community was provided via the UK Space Agency, through the National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO) and the International Space Innovation Centre. This investment targetted at Earth Observation requirements has resulted in the creation of CEMS : Climate and Environmental Monitoring from Space. JASMIN-core infrastructure is co-located with the academic component of CEMS at the STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.
