NERC funds world-leading basic, strategic and applied research, survey and long-term environmental observation and monitoring of the whole Earth system.
NERC scientists study the physical, chemical and biological processes on which our planet and life itself depends, from pole to pole, from the deep Earth and oceans to the atmosphere and space.
The scientific remit includes terrestrial, marine, freshwater, science-based archaeology, atmospheric and polar sciences, and Earth observation but our research is increasingly multi- and interdisciplinary, designed, supported and delivered in partnership with other research funders and research users.
NERC funds discovery science - driven by curiosity - and strategic research which helps society benefit from natural resources, build resilience to natural hazards and manage our changing environment.
If you are UK based scientist carrying out research and consider yourself to be part of the broader NERC scientific community, you are eligible to apply for a JASMIN user account. To obtain access to JASMIN please follow this guide to Getting Started.
NERC research has a broad diverse remit if you are unsure if you fit into this category of USER please contact us at CEDA Helpdesk where we will be happy to assign a JASMIN project support contact who can discuss your research needs.
